Collection: Hot Spring
The Sembawang Hot Spring, situated in the north of Singapore on Gambas Road, is the only one on the island. Discovered in 1909, this hot-spring received up to 300 visitors a day, due to the relaxing nature of the warm water and its reputation for curing certain skin ailments, mild arthritis and muscle aches. Indeed, the water has been measured to flow at about 150L per minute and remains at a constant temperature of 70 degrees Celsius; it also has unique mineral properties. Despite the early popularity of the hot spring, the amount of visitors to the Sembawang Spring has been steadily dwindling since the early 2000s. Nevertheless, the many regulars of the hotspring made it a very social place. The hot spring finally closed for redevelopment in late 2018, but just reopened in January 2020.
